Welcome to my law blog. I teach law at Monash University, in Melbourne, Australia, and I am a Deputy Director of the Castan Centre for Human Rights Law, in the Law Faculty at Monash. I have been teaching and researching in law, for over 20 years, in areas such as public law, constitutional law, Indigenous legal issues and legal education. I have also been working on legal issues surrounding identity, both regarding birth registration, and records laws.  You may have seen my posts on Amicae Curiae, The Castan Centre Blog, and Social Media in Legal Education, I sometimes write on The Conversation. I also am the national editor of the Alternative Law Journal, Australia’s most interesting critical law journal. I’m using this blog to draw together my academic work from a variety of online sources, so you can find it all in one place.

If you need to contact me, email me at melissa.castan@monash.edu, or tweet me at @mscastan.
